Colt SAA 2nd Gen Revolver Pair – Chernoff No. 1 & 2, Pearl Grips, .45 LC, 7.5" Barrels, C&R, Holster Rig & Provenance

This is a historic and collectible matched pair of Second Generation Colt Single Action Army revolvers, both chambered in .45 Long Colt with 7 1/2-inch barrels, blue/casehardened finishes, and period-fitted pearl grips. Manufactured in 1956 and shipped to H.H. Harris & Co. of Chicago, this pair was custom-ordered by the renowned Colt collector and author Arnold Marcus Chernoff, one of the foremost authorities on Colt firearms.

Each revolver is inscribed with Chernoff’s name on the backstrap, along with “No. 1” and “No. 2” to distinguish the set. These are matching serial-numbered revolvers, ordered together as part of a four-gun shipment during Colt’s celebrated reintroduction of the Single Action Army. The set includes a custom black leather holster rig with silver conchos, made specifically for this pair, as well as a period photo of Chernoff wearing the rig and holding one of the revolvers.

Both revolvers retain 90–95% of their original blue and casehardened finishes. The pearl grips show some chipping and minor fitting issues but are intact and visually striking. Mechanically, both guns are excellent. Also included is a factory letter, period SAA brochure, an extra .45 LC barrel, and Colt boxes—one original factory black box (numbered to a different gun) and one modern blue box.

This is a museum-grade set with deep ties to one of the most respected figures in Colt collecting—a rare opportunity to own a documented, personalized pair of 2nd Gen SAAs.
